Get drawn in by the soft glow of Claw Galaxy arcade

When would hours of operation be best for business when your business has a target audience of ages 5-17?

“After dark,” Michael Hu, owner of the new Claw Galaxy arcade, said of its busiest time of day. “Because that’s when they see the lights from outside.”

The brightly lit location in the Round Rock Crossing shopping center had its soft opening last week, with an anticipated Feb. 14 grand opening date. Largely focused on claw machine gaming, Claw Galaxy also includes a few virtual reality and arcade style video games as well as a full wall of modern gumball machine games. A party room will be added before the grand opening.

A unique premise locally, claw machine arcades are fairly common in Asian countries. Hu hopes they’ll catch on here. This is his fifth location, having opened his first claw machine arcade in Katy over a year ago.

“[Round Rock] is the perfect spot,” he said, noting the city’s similarity to Katy both geographically – just north of a major Texas city – and economically. “We’re wanting to bring the fun to the locals.”

Claw Galaxy is open seven days a week at 3203 S. Interstate 35, Suite 520. Hours are 1-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 1-10 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. every Sunday.

GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO SHOP

Want better roads? How about better parks? All you have to do is Shop the Rock. Seriously, head over to the outlets and buy those shoes, or venture downtown for lunch. It doesn’t matter if you are shopping, dining or getting a haircut your dollars are helping to pay it forward and build our community. What makes this possible? Sales tax. Though it may be the least sexy tax, it is the hardest working one. So next time you see a shirt you love, buy it. Your city will thank you.
