Marble Slab ice cream shop sets up in Round Rock

Marble Slab Creamery, with nearly 400 locations worldwide, has opened its door in the University Commons shopping center.

The ice cream shop franchise will mark its grand opening on March 7 at noon, with free ice cream to its first 100 customers.

University of Texas economics major Faiz “Mak” Maknojiya said he’s looking forward to creating the same love locally for the brand that he had growing up in Houston.

“This brand, I had a lot growing up,” said Maknojiya, who co-owns the location with his cousins. “So much has developed here. I love this sense of community and family in Round Rock.”

Founded in Houston in 1983, Marble Slab became known for pioneering the frozen granite slab technique used to hand-mix toppings into homemade ice cream. Toppings are free and amounts are unlimited, so customer creations are not often of the plain vanilla variety.

Marble Slab offers ice cream in cones and cups, as well as shakes, sundaes and ice cream cakes. Flavors vary by location, with the Round Rock site offering cotton candy, cheesecake, coffee, caramel, mango, mint, pina colada, raspberry sorbet, red velvet cake, rum, occasional seasonal flavors and more. Toppings include chocolate chips, cookie dough, gummies, M&Ms, marshmallows, nuts, sprinkles and more.

Ice cream kits are available for parties in four- and six-quart or 10-cup varieties. Ice cream cakes can be picked up ready-made or customized with 12 hours advance notice.

A subsidiary of FAT Brands, Marble Slab Creamery is located in 22 states and 11 countries, and can often be found in co-branded stores with Great American Cookies. While there are more than 250 stand-alone Marble Slabs, there are also more than 145 co-branded sites.

Find them in Round Rock at 200 University Blvd., Suite 630; on social media (InstagramFacebook and TikTok); and online at MarbleSlab.com. It utilizes Grubhub, Uber Eats and other delivery services.
