Round Rock Donuts again named to Yelp Top Donuts of US list

The accolades continue to roll on in for Round Rock Donuts.

The acclaimed bakery has been featured on television shows, magazines and this week was named to the Yelp Elite Top 50 Donut Shops in the United States list, coming in at No. 12 overall. It was the top shop from Texas on the list.

Yelp identified potential businesses and then ranked the top 50 based on volume and ratings of reviews by its top reviewers.

Yelp also named Round Rock Donuts as the best bakery in Texas last year and gave props to its Texas Sized Donut as well. The tire-sized confection – made from as much dough as it takes to make a dozen doughnuts – was second on Yelp’s top 10 list of Outrageous Oversized Eats of 2024.

Round Rock Donuts was No. 6 on Yelp’s Top 50 Donut Shops in the United States list in 2023, and a year earlier was No. 1 on the list.

Lone Star Bakery opened on Main Street in 1926, with the “Round Rock Doughnut” gaining the bakery recognition by the early ‘40s.

By the ‘60s, it was receiving widespread acclaim, being named the best doughnut in the state by Texas Monthly.

“We literally are world famous,” said Scott Westover, a Round Rock Donuts bakery manager.

The bakery moved to its present location on West Liberty in 1970 and in 2022, added a second shop in Cedar Park.

Round Rock Donuts have been featured in magazines such as Southern Living and Bon Appetit. They have also been on television shows such as “Man vs. Food,” “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Texas Country Reporter.”
