Round Rock’s Kalahari Resort named No. 1 US indoor water park

Round Rock is officially home to America’s best indoor water park! Kalahari Resorts and Conventions has been ranked number one on a top-ten list of the best indoor water parks in the United States by USA TODAY 10Best. 

Kalahari, which has three other locations in the U.S., opened the doors to its 351-acre family resort in Round Rock on Nov. 12, 2020. In 2023, Kalahari expanded the outdoor portion of the water park to include a 900-plus foot wave action river, interactive kids play area with nine outdoor slides, and outdoor adult swim-up bar area.

Round Rock City Council passed a series of economic development agreements with Kalahari in 2018, and the resort is already surpassing initial revenue estimates. When Kalahari opened, the City anticipated the project would bring in approximately $4.7 million in annual net, direct tax revenues to the City in the first 10 years of operations. Revenues to the City have already come in at over $5 million for the past year — well ahead of projections!
