In Farsi, Aminpour means someone who will take good care of you, and that is exactly what the Aminpour family does with their restaurant Baba Kebab.  

What originally started out as a bakery has expanded to a full-service restaurant that serves naan, chicken, lamb and beef kebabs and tea. 

“There’s a super huge bread culture in Iran, which you don’t find here,” Rati Aminpour, the owner’s son, said. “My mom just couldn’t live with any of those other types of bread, so she made us start a whole business.”  

The Aminpour family is originally from Iran but moved to Round Rock several years ago. But while the restaurant may be in Texas, its food is authentic to the Aminpour family culture.  

“All the customers we have, especially the Persian ones, they come in and they’re like, ‘This is exactly what we used to eat when we were back home,’” Aminpour said. 

The food and drinks incorporate a special touch that makes everything feel intentional. The tea is served with rock candy to add sweetness, and the naan is baked in-house.  

“Everything is not literally made at home, but it’s made with my mom’s hand, which makes it homemade,” he said.
